2012... #43

I write this while at the library at wonderful Sac State. Pmiles is sitting across from me doing some research for a paper in one of his classes and I am on the other side listening to the amazing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World soundtrack and finishing up some homework before I start reading an uber dense art history book. I am so glad that I have this music to keep me going today.

The weeks are going by so fast. Sometimes I think I am losing my mind. Blah. Who cares? After studying we are going over to the well to work out. The last time we went there was last Thursday morning... I need to get back in gear. The wedding is coming up soon. 6 months, 14 days... or 28 weeks... or 196 days. I wonder if it is even possible to get from 195 to 150 by then. Ugh.

Well, some things are pure & some things are right but the kids are still standing with their arms folded tight///

Arcade Fire> Month of May

I have been listening to the Arcade Fire's album "The Suburbs" no stop in my car since last weekend... I wonder how long before this album drives me nuts?

(Answer: Never)

Me and the crew used to do her///

I love how when I hear the song "Poison" by Bell Biv Devoe, I always think of the episode from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' where "The Gang Dances their Asses Off"... That is the main reason why I listen to this song... To remember that part where Mac challenges Dennis to a 'dance off'

And I'm leaning on a broken fence between Past and Present tense///

Every day when I wake up, I do a usual routine: I feed the cats (Beasley has my wake up time at about 7am everyday), make some coffee for me and Paul, check on my plants in the garden, finish cleaning from last night and then I head to the computer and begin with my job hunt (and the occasional facebook stalking of my friends). Beasley and Poppy keep me entertained for the most part. Usually, Poppy spends most of the day sleeping on the couch while Beasley constantly jumps on to my desk then to the window ledge to look outside and "talks" to me the way a cat only knows how. Sometimes Poppy joins in which sucks cause there are lots of papers on my desk. I listen to music (either my itunes, Pandora or my mp3 player) and I like to sing from time to time. Today, Poppy did something I have never seen: when I would sing a song (I am currently in love with the new Muse album The Resistance, especially the song "United States of Eurasia" mostly because Matthew Bellamy has the voice of an angel), she would come to me and sit while I sing to her. Her ears would perk up when a high note is hit. I know I am not the best singer in the world, I only sing when no one is home or in my car (Paul likes it when I do that). Poppy is usually acts like a diva at home but I think it is so awesome that she responds to my singing like that.

I have the best cats in the world.

WTF!

< / start rant >

So apparently KWOD 106.5 (the local "alternative" radio station in Sacramento) decided to cease being. Which is fine since I only listen to my mp3 player when in the car and use Pandora.com while on the interwebs. BUT, I had over 660,000 points in their "listener loyalty program" online with the hopes of wining tickets to concerts this summer (like I usually do). WTF!!!! Seriously! I want to punch someone or something! PS: I am tired and half asleep!

I can't wait for Friday...

I should be studding... I should be doing a lot of things. But what am I doing? Making a mixed CD of ladies names. Weak, huh? Not studding works for me tho. I got my test back from my Renaissance art class and I aced it (like usual). Suck on that, school system.

Lemon, out! Um, never mind.

Kiss me where your eye won't meet me... Meet me where your eye won't flick me///

Song of the day: Franz Ferdinand> No You Girls

Things I love...

Franz Ferdinand. I thank Paul for downloading their new album. It is so catchy and sexy. Goal for next year: Make a pilgrimage to see Coachella in 2010. I would love to go this year (I would pick day one because of Franz and We Are Scientist) and I know I can probably stay with my Aunt and Uncle who live outside of Indio. Ugh. One day. First, a trip to Europe (South of France) then more concert/ festivals.

Anyways, listening to Franz got me to remembering seeing them in concert with Death Cab for Cutie back in 2006 (before I met Paul) and how much fun I had going to a concert alone.

So here we are... Again///

Song of the day: Bloc Party> So Here We Are

I caught a glimpse, but its been forgotten. So here we are again.

I made a vow, to carry you home.

I really tried to do what you wanted. It all went wrong again.

I made a vow, to carry you home.

If you fall sick, if you pass out.

I figured it out, I can see again.

In the strangest fashion... you start a chain reaction///

Song of the day: Mute Math> Noticed

So, I am currently packing things up for the big move to St. George. What a way to spend my vacation! Anyways, I have been listening to Pandora and heard a song by Mute Math that I love so much... Enjoy!

Careful - when you open
it's easy to be broken
In the strangest fashion
you start a chain reaction

You look my way- something's bounding her way
& I wonder if I ever felt this before
& all this time oblivious
to what you make so obvious
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before...

You are reaching for something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over & again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before

At least until I never noticed

You & Your ways
capture what I've misplaced
In the perfect fashion
Just watch my heart's reaction
This point of view is nothing that I'm used to
& I won't close my eyes cause they're onto you

All this time it was staring me blind
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
You are reaching for something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over & again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Atleast until I never nooticed you

Waoooooohhh....ooohhhh...

The only time I ever noticed my heart
Is when I noticed you
The only time I ever noticed my heart
Is when I noticed you

You are reaching for something that is beating
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before
Over & again, racing out of my skin
I can't believe I never noticed my heart before

I'm just saying, hey Mona Lisa... Come home you know you can't Rome without Caesar///

Song of the day: Kanye West> Flashing Lights

Oh Mr Kanye West. You have a way with words.

"Feeling like Katrina with no FEMA
Like Martin with no Gina
Like a flight with no visa
First class with the seat back I still see ya"

Martin with out Gina... Classic.

& I've made hallways scenes for things to regret///

Song of the day: Interpol> Rest My Chemistry

Another lazy day. I wish I had more of these days in my life. I like the feeling that I can do anything I want whenever I want. One day I will get that experience. Not now... One day, maybe. But for now, my life resumes tomorrow morning at 7am and wont end till 5pm Friday afternoon. Joy.

I have been going thru my mp3 player and getting rid of some music that I haven't been listening to in a long time or music that I have grown out of. I still cant believe that I have a 30g mp3 player and it is almost full off 5500+ songs and 12 videos of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think I need to expand my musical horizon and try new things. I think I am up for the challenge.

They say I only think in the form of crunching numbers... In hotel rooms collecting Page Six lovers///

Song of the day: Fall Out Boy> Thnks Fr Th Mmrs

I have been listening to the same song by Fall Out Boy since Thursday... It brings back 'memories' of the things and person I once was long time ago... Which got me to start searching old blogs of mine... Do I miss what "could have been?" Not really. But it does get me to start thinking just for a little bit.

'Been looking forward to the future
but my eyesight is going bad.
& this crystal ball is
always cloudy except for
when you look into the past.
One night stand.'

The one line that I love more then anything is when he keeps repeating 'He tastes like you, only sweeter.' I think its the most beautiful set of words put together...

On a totally (un)related subject: Have I ever mentioned that I always laugh when I hear the songs "Me So Horney" by 2 Live Crew and "Poison" by Bel Biv Devo... Poison reminds me of an episode of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" in which The Gang 'Dances Their Asses Off'

Closed circuit cameras... Before you're comatose///

I miss Paul. Corny... Yes, I know. Nothing seems as fun when he is gone... Not playing the video games... Listening to music... Or even waiting to see which item will be next on the woot-off. He is in Los Angels this weekend to visit family... His little sister, Lauren, is graduating from high school as we speak; his cousin, Katherine, is graduating from San Diego State this weekend, and his Aunt who lives in Austria is in town for his Grandmothers memorial and to get her headstone set in place at the cemetery she is buried in. I have the privilege of picking Paul up from the airport late Sunday night. I will be a grumpy bear if his flight is delayed like usual.

So, what has been going on in the world of me, you might ask? Currently, I am at home. I dropped my Public Speaking class today. I thought about it for the last day or so. I am just not comfortable with the class. The group I was in (that I feel bad for abandoning) was pretty cool. One of the girls went to the same high school as me long ago, too. I dropped the class online. I don't regret it. I decided that I will take another class come this Fall... Which brings my total up to about 4 classes and about 14 units next semester. 3 art classes and 1 math class. I think I am up for the challenge. The classes will be Into to Art, Asian Art, Medieval Art and Algebra Math (which I hate with a passion). I think it will be better off this way. I just feel like I let down Paul. I asked him if he was mad that I decided to drop this class, he said that he wasn't; I can tell that he is slightly. I have to kick ass this next semester. I wish that work wasn't preventing me from devoting my time solely to school and getting my degree.

I should be doing other things... I have been listening to Radiohead since 7pm (I think)... The same 2 songs actually. 'All I Need' & 'Jigsaw Falling into Place'. I keep playing out things in my mind... Like if I were to do a music video, what would it be like? I cant possibly describe what thoughts pop into my head while the song plays... Every time the song starts, I just close my eyes and disappear into something else. Maybe it has something to do with the lyrics, I hear that song and think of the Amanda I once was and how I am nothing like her anymore... Whore, no more:

"Just as you take my hand
Just as you write my number down
Just as the drinks arrive
Just as they play your favourite song
As your blather disappears
No longer wound up like a spring
Before you've had too much
Come back in focus again

The walls abandon shape
They've got a Cheshire cat grin
All blurring into one
This place is on a mission
Before the night owl
Before the animal noises
Closed circuit cameras
Before you're comatose

Before you run away from me
Before you're lost between the notes
The beat goes round and round
The beat goes round and round
You never really got me there
I just pretended that I had
What's the point of instruments
Words are a sawed off shotgun

Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out
Come on and let it out

Before you run away from me
Before you're lost between the notes
Just as you take the mic
Just as you dance, dance, dance

Jigsaw falling into place
There is nothing to explain
You eye each other as you pass
She looks back, you look back
Not just once
Not just twice
Wish away the nightmare
Wish away the nightmare
You've got it on you can feel it on your back
It on you can feel it on your back
Jigsaw falling into place"
Re-reading it, I don't like who I was before I met Paul... Constantly running from guy to guy and sleeping with the next guy who would have me. If the old me had a theme song, it would be that song. Hands down. Maybe I should make an "Old Manda" mixed CD. Ideas ideas.

Arg. I think I will play some games or clean up a little bit. I sold one of Paul's old N64 games today. Someone paid $17 for it. Manda = win. Mario Kart. I also need to work on my lame mixed CD... Yeah right.

boomboomboom

One day, I want to go to some real big festivals... like Bonnaroo. Ugh. A girl can dream.

Aly, walk right out of my dreams... Into my arms///

I ended up listening to The Raveonettes latest album called LustLustLust and totally fell in love with it sooo much. I listened to most of the album while making pizza dough at 9pm last night. My favorite song is track 1 'Aly, Walk With Me.' Its very dream like. <3 Anywho, I only got about half way with my parents artwork present... I didn't know how hard painting was till last night. This is after about 2 hours of painting tho. I just hope if turns out as good as I hope it will. I know that they will just be happy that I made them something from the heart... And they have an Asian theme around the house anyways, so hopefully it will be a win win for me. Stupid camera phone don't do the picture much justice!!!

I hope to have it all finished before tomorrow evening. We are all (Mom, Dad, the brothers Matt & Orion and their girlfriends, myself and Paul) going to dinner at Buca di Beppo and then taking family photos (just me and my family... not the significant others). Should be fun, I'll take the camera just incase.

I keep your picture upon the wall... It hides a nasty stain that’s lying there///

I am going to make Mom and Dad a painting for their anniversary present. I am thinking of a cherry blossom theme on 3 canvas' for them. I am listening to music to make me all creative... Heart came on, 'Magic Man' and I forgot how much I like this song... Oh, and also 10cc's 'I'm Not In Love' How I love me some 70's music. Make out music... *growls* I need to work on some new mix ideas! Maybe while painting!

[Edit: 8pm]
I have decided to listen to Metallica instead. I haven't heard anything from them in a long time. The album of choice is the S&M double album with the San Francisco Symphony. Metal and a full symphonic orchestra... What else can a girl ask for? The metal sparks my creative juices and the symphonic part sparks my perfection and details in my painting. 'Master of Puppets', 'For Whom The Bells Toll', 'Nothing Else Matters', 'The Memory Remains' *sigh* Eat your heart out.

Woo hoo!!! Something that made me happy to see... We Are Scientist are playing in town! Score!
