Ode to Chuck Klosterman...
I pass the time while on the bus reading essays about pop culture by Chuck Klosterman. If I could have lunch or dinner with anyone living, it would be him. I am sure he is my literary soul mate. Yes, I am a nerd.

The day the wind blew into town...
The middle of the week... I am so glad that I have only one more day (after this one) till the weekend again. The weather has changed and the wind is a nice change from the heat... I am not sure that early September is appropriate "hoodie" weather.
On that note, I think I am going to go return a book or two at the book store.

Week 1 of being an "official" university student...
And week 1 is almost officially over for me. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was applying to Sac State... Then getting the letter that I have been accepted... Then the first day of school. I am glad that this first week is over. It makes the being scared, nervous, & the worrying all seem like they were worth it in the grand scheme of things. I am proud that the hard work that I have put myself (and Paul) thru has been worth it.
The first week has been good. I go to school from Monday thru Thursday from about noon till 5pm-ish.
My Monday/ Wednesday classes are my Art History classes. From 130pm to 245pm its Art of India & Southeast Asia (Provides a broad overview of the architectural remains and visual arts of India and Southeast Asia from prehistory to the present. Consideration will be given to the art styles, iconography, history, geography, ethnic populations, languages, and religions (i.e., Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Islam) of each region)... From 3pm to 415pm its Modern Architecture (A survey of modern architecture which covers the architectural theories and principles underlying certain significant structures. Special consideration is given to an analysis of the works of 20th century pioneers and their followers, such as Wright, Gropius, Le Corbusier, Van der Rohe, Aalto, and Johnson, among others, and to certain movements, such as the International Style, Brutalism, and Formalism).
My Tuesday/ Thursday classes are my History classes. From 12pm to 115pm it is Intro to Historic Skills (Introduction to the skills of secondary and primary source research, critical analysis of documentary sources, historical reasoning and the preparation of written reports. Attention to research procedures, record-keeping, citation, and bibliography). From 3pm to 415pm its Popular Culture (Focuses on entertainment and everyday life in America from the beginnings to the present. Enhances the students' understanding of how popular culture reflects and shapes the larger issues and institutions of American life).
I have been riding the bus the first week. It helps that the bus that goes to Sac State also comes a block from my house. Finding parking here has been a nightmare. Plus, I like the fact that I can read a book while I sit in a air conditioned bus.
More later. My Pop Culture class starts in 20 minutes.
